Interviewing Lin-Manuel Miranda at BroadwayCon 2018

I am late to the party since I am now just first getting to writing about my experience this year at BroadwayCon which was held about a month ago.

With Spongebob Creator & Director, Tina Landau

This was my third year reporting from the event at the Javits Center. In its inaugural year, I turned a fun video piece for FoxNews.com about what presidential candidate would make a good musical. Of course, you can figure out who the clear winner was in 2016.

In the second year, I secured exclusive interviews with Taran Killam about joining Hamilton and Donna Murphy about being Bette’s alternate in Hello, Dolly! for Entertainment Tonight. I also got to interview so many Broadway stars from Bebe Neuwith, Patina Miller, William Ivey Long, Marc Kudisch and Jon Rua for my YouTube channel, Up With The Curtain.

This year, I was granted an exclusive interview with the one and only Lin-Manuel Miranda who was on a panel the first night celebrating the 10th anniversary of In The Heights. That piece for Entertainment Tonight will go up in early March in time for the actual 10th anniversary of the show on Broadway. We also taped a fun piece with him for Inside Edition. Stay tuned for that as well! Who would have thought I would get a sit down interview with him. It was just over the summer I interviewed him on a red carpet for Viva Broadway! For Up With The Curtain: I interviewed Sierra Boggess, Alexandra Sibler, Sandra Joseph and Todd Buonopane ( That video still needs to go up!)

I was also afforded the opportunity to moderate a panel about what it takes for Broadway Choreographers (Ann Yee and Sam Pinkleton) and their dance captains to mount musical production numbers.

It was so much fun and I hope I am asked back next year to do it again!

And of course this was also the third year my camp friends and I took the same photo to commemorate our tradition!
